Cette sculpture m'a été inspirée bien sur par l'actualité. Mais au départ c'est un morceau de bois flotté qui de par sa forme m'a guidé pour donner naissance a un pangolin, c'était une évidence. Cette sculpture réalisée par un assemblage de bois flottés et accessoirisée avec notamment des ustensiles de cuisines à pour but de représenter la combinaison entre la Nature et l'Homme. En effet le bras mécanique du pangolin illustre l'activité humaine, celui-ci créé un virus car il est évident que l'Homme est responsable de ce que nous traversons en ce moment. Et pour nous l'expliquer, écoutons l'histoire que le Pr Pang va nous raconter et réfléchissons tous à ce que nous avons fait et au monde que l'on veut pour demain...
_Pr Pang : " Il était une fois, une magnifique planète, sans nul doute la plus belle connue dans l'univers à ce jour. La planète Bleue, Gaïa, La Terre. Cette planète était recouverte de forets, de mers, d'océans, de rivières, de lacs, de champs fleuris...un véritable paradis pour vivre, et où des milliers d'espèces animales et végétales s'épanouissaient en harmonie. En harmonie...pas tout à fait, car parmi toute ces espèces, l'une d'elles, un bipède, c'est crue supérieure à toutes les autres.Ce bipède pourtant arrivé très tard dans l'évolution, a pris de plus en plus de place. Cette espèce était capable du pire comme du meilleur, capable d'Amour et de Haine, de Générosité et d’Égoïsme, d'Intelligence et de Stupidité...L'amour aurait pu guider sa vie mais elle a préféré adorer un Dieu, oh des Dieux cette espèce en vénère plusieurs, mais il y en a un qu'elle idolâtre plus que tous les autres, C'est le Dieu Argent. Au nom de celui-ci, le bipède est capable de tout...massacrer des espèces qu'il croit inférieures à lui, détruire leurs habitats et même éliminer des membres de sa propres espèce.Tout cela dans un seul but, contenter le Dieu Argent, et pour y parvenir il est prêt à tout sacrifier sur l'autel des profits. C'est dans cette logique qui le guide, que le bipède petit à petit détruit notre belle planète Terre et tous ceux qui y vivent. Gaïa a beau se défendre et envoyer des signaux d'alerte au bipède, il n'a jusqu'ici rien compris, restant sourd et aveugle. Mais Gaïa, croit en ce bipède qui grouille à sa surface, malgré tout ses défauts, elle pense qu'il peut évoluer et qu'il est capable de vivre en harmonie. Alors elle lui a envoyé une dernière épreuve, l'ultime test, pour qu'il change de route et abandonne son Dieu vénal pour l'Amour, un virus qui touchera toute la population de bipèdes afin que, au pied du mur, il comprenne qu'il n'est nullement supérieur aux autres espèces, ni même essentiel à la vie sur Terre car en effet il doit bien comprendre que ni notre mère Gaïa, ni toutes les espèces animales ou végétales vivant en son sein, n'ont besoin du bipède pour vivre, par contre lui a entièrement besoin de nous pour survivre ici. Ce virus aujourd'hui lui laisse deux choix possible, seulement deux choix : -soit il s’entête à rester sourd et continu comme avant, dans ce cas là il va continuer de creuser sa propre tombe et précipiter son extinction emportant avec lui bon nombre d'autres espèce...-soit il comprend, et décide de changer fondamentalement sa façon d’être et de vivre en mettant l'Amour et la Nature au centre de tout, en jetant à jamais son Dieu Argent dans l'oubli, et là il sera sauvé et avec lui, nous tous. Je suis pour ma part assez pessimiste mais si notre Mère Gaïa croit en ce bipède alors je veux bien lui faire confiance moi aussi et croire au fait qu'il puisse changer....je le souhaite sincèrement, je le souhaite, pour nous tous....je vous en supplie cher bipède apprenez enfin à Être Humain."
The Professor Pang
Driftwood sculpture, 2020
This sculpture was evidently inspired by current affairs. It is originally a piece of drift wood whose shape guided me and gave rise to a pangolin. It was evident.
This sculpture was created through the assembly of driftwood and accessorised with kitchen utensils. Its aim is to represent the combination between nature and man. In effect the pangolins mechanic arm illustrates human activity, which creates the virus, as it is clear than man is responsible for what we are now living through.
Let’s listen to Professor Pang’s story in order to all reflect on what we have done and on the world we want for tomorrow…Professor Pang: “There was once a wonderful planet, without a doubt the most beautiful known within our universe to this day. The blue planet, Gaia, Earth. This planet was covered in forests, seas, oceans, rivers, lakes and fields in bloom…a real paradise in which to live and where thousands of species of animals and vegetables blossomed in harmony.
But not in total harmony. For amongst all of these species, one of them, a biped, thought itself superior to the others. Even though, this biped arrived very late in the process of evolution, it took up more and more space. This species was as capable of carrying out the best, as carrying out the worst actions, capable of love and hate, of generosity and selfishness, intelligence and stupidity. Love could have guided its life but it preferred to adore a God, or some Gods, this species venerates several. But there is one that it worships more than others, it’s the money god. In the name of this god, the biped is capable of everything…a massacre of species it believes inferior to itself, destroying their habitat and even eliminating members of its own species. All of this with one single goal, satisfying the money god. To get there it is prepared to sacrifice everything on the altar of profits. It’s with this guiding logic that little by little we are destroying our beautiful planet earth and everything that lives there. Gaia tries to defend itself and send alarm signals to the biped, who has yet to understand and remains deaf and blind. But Gaia believes in this biped, that swarms upon her surface, despite all its faults, she thinks that it can evolve and that it is capable of living in harmony.
So she sends it a final test, the ultimate test, so that it changes course and abandons its corrupt god in the name of love. A virus that will affect the entire population of bipeds, so that when backed into a corner, it will understand that it is not at all superior to other beings, nor even essential to life on earth. As it must understand that neither our mother Gaia nor all of the animal or vegetable species living on it need the biped to live. In contrast it completely needs them to survive here. At the moment, this virus only leaves it two possible choices, only two choices: either it pigheadedly remains deaf and continues as before, which means it will continue to dig its own grave and speed up its extinction, taking many other species with it, or it understands and decides to fundamentally change its way of being and will live by placing love and nature at the centre of everything, throwing the money god into oblivion. In doing so it will be saved and with it, us all.
I am myself rather pessimistic, but if our mother Gaia believes in this biped I will also willingly trust it and believe in the fact that it is able to change….I sincerely hope it can, I wish for it, for us all…I beg of you dear biped learn to be human at last”.
